The following entries can be made per segment:

Desired temp.: The desired temperature can be selected as required within the limits for the pyrometer

temperature range (set). The range can be seen in the title bar on the programming window if the
pyrometer is connected.

t segm: Defines the time that the segment is to run for if the time mode (0) has been selected in MODE.

If "CONT" is entered in the box, the controller will run continuously until the control program is
stopped manually.

Max:

The output signal can be limited to a percentage maximum value.

Xp:

Box for entering the proportional element for the controller (in percent):
The proportional element for the controller simply produces an output signal that is proportional to
the control error. This signal can be amplified by a factor (Xp < 100%) or attenuated (Xp > 100%).
If the proportional range is entered as 0% (gain =

∞), the controller operates as an on-off control-

ler.

Ki:

Box for entering the integral element for the controller (in seconds):
On the occurrence of a desired temperature error, a controlled variable that changes over time is
applied to the analogue output until the difference to the desired temperature = zero.
The integral time is given in seconds. With Ki = 0 an I element is not calculated.

Kd:

Box for entering the differential element for the controller (in seconds):
On a change in the actual temperature (desired temperature error), a step output response is
produced ("predictive effect"). The differential element is updated in the time window for the time
set.

MODE:

Defines whether the segment is processed in the time mode (entry: 0) or temperature mode
(entry: 1). The time for both modes is entered in "t segm".
Time mode: The desired temperature is changed from the actual temperature (e.g. for the last
segment) to the required temperature in the time stated.
Temperature mode: The desired temperature is defined, once this temperature has been
reached, the next segment is executed. The time "t segm" is interpreted as a monitoring time in
this mode and results in switching to the next segment if the desired temperature is not reached
within this time.

As a rule a temperature is defined in the temperature mode to change to this temperature as
quickly as possible. In the time mode this control can be continued for a specific time. If "CONT" is
entered in "t Segm", the controller operates continuously without any time limit.

6.6.4 Program

execution

The program monitor window provides the
same features as the keypad on the PI

6000, it can be used to start, stop or interrupt a control
program. The following additional information is displayed:
• Desired and actual temperature

• The progress in the related segment with program num-

ber

• Bar display for the controller activity
If an alarm pyrometer is active also:

• Temperature measured by the alarm pyrometer (Alarm

Pyro)

• Temperature for triggering the alarm (Alarm Limit)

If the "Online graph" check box is selected, the

program progress can be followed visually as in the "Auto-
Tune" window.

selected control

running

Interrupts program execution, the controller contin-
ues to operate and maintains the temperature at the
actual value. You can continue the control program
by clicking the Start button again.
