Introduction This section describes the features available with your Vanguard 6435/6455. For
descriptions of the software running on your Vanguard 6435/6455, refer to the
appropriate protocol document.
Hardware Features This table lists the hardware features of the Vanguard 6435 and the Vanguard 6455:
Increased Flash
SIMM Memory Size
Expansion Release 6.2 and greater allows the Vanguard 6435 and 6455 to increase the FLASH
memory and expand the CMEM area. Existing Vanguard 6435 and 6455’s can be
expanded to 12MB FLASH memory as long as the bootprom is also updated. A new
bootprom is required to support the 12MB Flash option with the 128 kbyte CMEM.
To use 128k CMEM, 8 Mbyte FLASH SIMM must be installed and the bootprom
updated. Below are the recommended configurations.
Vanguard 6435:
• SDRAM Expansion 16 Megabyte DIMM standard optional 32 Megabyte.
• 32 Megabyte is recommended when using the 8 Megabyte Flash SIMM.
Vanguard 6455:
• Vanguard 6455: Release 5.6 and greater the Vanguard 6455 ships with the
recommended 32 Megabyte DIMM installed.
• Any Vanguard 6455 equipped with 16MB SDRAM and 8MB FLASH SIMM
should be upgraded to 32MB SDRAM.
