Modifying Your Vanguard 6435/6455
Accessing the Motherboard
Introduction This section explains how to access the motherboard for the Vanguard 6455 and the
Vanguard 6435. It also identifies the location of the key motherboard components.
Before replacing DIMs, SIMMs, batteries, or daughtercards, or setting DIP switches,
you must access the Vanguard 6435/6455 motherboard.
Note
Because the 6455 and the 6435 have different enclosures, the procedures for
accessing the motherboard is different for each device.
Instructions for the
6455 Figure 3-8 shows how to remove and install the Vanguard 6455 motherboard.
Figure 3-10 shows the location of the components on the motherboard.
Warning
To prevent injury and damage to the equipment, power down the unit and disconnect
the power cord before you remove or install the motherboard.

electric discharges can cause damage to internal components. Use proper handling
and grounding precautions whenever handling cards and components.
