Vanguard 6455 Option Cards

Each Vanguard 6455 can support two of either the T1 or E1 version of the VoIP
Convergence Card. You cannot, however, install one of each card version in any one
Vanguard 6455. When cards are installed in a Vanguard 6455, interfaces are assigned
as illustrated in Figure 2-37.

T1 and E1 Versions There are two versions of the VoIP Convergence Card, one for T1 and the other for

E1 applications. Figure 2-38 shows the rear panel of the T1 version and Figure 2-39
shows the rear panel of the E1 version.

Caution

You can install two T1 or two E1 VoIP Convergence Cards in one Vanguard 6455.
The Vanguard 6455 does not operate correctly if you install T1 and E1 versions in
the same unit.

The T1 version of this option card supports a maximum of 24 voice channels. The
E1 version supports a maximum of 30 voice channels. DSP SIMM Cards must be
installed on the VoIP Convergence Card to support voice channels. If these SIMM
Cards are not mounted to the option card, it supports data transmission only.
