4.4.2 Configuration of the Profibus network

The field bus is configured by means of the SyCon (PCMCon) system produced by the Hilscher
company. The configuration is undertaken by means of a desktop system and is subsequently
loaded into the card. The communication is undertaken via TCP/IP .

If it is necessary to provide for several different configurations on the system, these can be
exported from the SyCon system as mdb files and stored on the Flash card. It is possible to load
the different configurations on to the Hilscher module by using the program “DevInstall”.

4.4.2.1 Downloading configuration data via TCP/IP

In order to be able to load the configuration data of from SyCon on to the Hilscher card, it is
necessary to start the program “TcpIpSvrCE” on the CE system. This can be done either by using
the Config Manager > “Comm Devices” or via the Web server.

To download the configuration, the PLC should be set to the “Stop” mode.

It is then possible within SyCon to load the configuration on to the field bus card via the menu
item “Online

→Download” by using the “CIF TCP/IP Driver”. To do this, it is necessary to use

the IP address of the Windows CE System.

4.4.2.2 Alternative configuration method using the Simatic Manager / S7 for Windows
When using Profibus, it is also possible to undertake the configuration by using the “Simatic
Manager” or “S7 for Windows”.

To do this, the check box “Enable field bus diagnostic and configuration” must be activated in the
Config Manager on the page “PCM Control” > “Advanced...” (by inserting a tick in the box).
Having done this, the Soft PLC must be closed down and restarted by using “PCM Control”. It is
then no longer possible to undertake the configuration by using SyCon, as the TcpIPSvrCE server
cannot be restarted (this is shown by an error notification!).

The field bus configuration can then be undertaken and downloaded by using the hardware
configuration tools within the Simatic Manager or S7 for Windows.
