Operation with the regulator Type 4040 requires a control valve with a linear flow characteristic. As Bürkert's
control valve Type 2712 does not have a linear characteristic, but a percentually equal one, the linearization
must be carried out using the positioner TopControl Type 8630 or the SideControl Type 8635.
The procedure is as follows:
First the additional function CHARACT must be activated. A freely programmable characteristic can be defi-
ned using the menu selection CHA FREE. The support points must be entered in increments of 5%, and can
be obtained from Bürkert representatives for the control valve Type 2712.

Using this additional function, you can select a transmission characteristic for the target value (target posi-
tion, CMD) and valve lift (POS) in order to correct the flow / operative characteristic.
