1 Purpose of Use and Special Features

These devices are intended to provide up to 8 subscribers with 8 Sat IF banks (e.g. Astra

19.2° and Eutelsat 13°) and the terrestrial signal via one cable.
If 8 connections are insufficient, further extensions can be connected to the base unit.
These will facilitate supply to up to 24 subscribers.
The integrated Sat channel router (SCR) technology allows broadcasting without any

programming restrictions. The devices are HDTV-compatible.
It is important to ensure that the receiver is set up properly to control the TechniRouter.
All TechniSat devices with the logo “TechniRouter ready” and receivers from other
suppliers, which support the

European standard 50494

can be used. Analog receivers cannot be used.

Only use connection accessories with integrated decoupling diode.

Existing cable structures in residential buildings can be set up to receive digital satellite
signals from two satellite positions without a new cable routing.

The advantage for new installations is that many subscribers receive signals from a
single connection which makes cable installing and laying work obsolete and saves many
feet of coaxial cable.

The expansion of existing multiswitch systems is also easily possible, for instance,
because of the purchase of hard disk receivers with twin tuners.
Each user has a specific channel on the output IF band of the TechniRouter assigned (user
band), via which he, using his receiver to control, can “select” and receive his desired
program.

Each of these user bands incorporates a

PIN code security feature,

which protects against unauthorized third party access.
The receiver must be set up for this mode.

Once the receiver has completed a successful initial configuration especially via

automatic setup, it is strongly recommended not to repeat the configuration process
due to the chance of interference with other subscribers (cf. section 4.6.2).

Please be advised that each channel can only be allocated once. Especially if 8 users are
connected to one cable that requires a certain amount of discipline, the channels initially
installed should not be impermissibly altered. The receiver supplies the TechniRouter with
power while the LNBs are supplied from the base unit of the TechniRouter. Since every
receiver uses its own electronic within the TechniRouter, it is recommended to switch this
part of the device to stand-by mode, if not in use. Following this procedure, the receiver
can be switched off via its mechanical power switch or by flipping the switch on the multiple
socket outlet.
