Flush-Mounted Distribution Rack:
For installation in the staircase, which is the optimal arrangement for a star distribution
from the middle of the home, you should install a flush-mounted (or on-wall) distribution
rack. This can also contain, if required, an intermediate amplifier or other components. We
advise that the door should be sealed with a safety lock.
5.2 Planning
For large-scale installations a calculation of “coverage” is necessary.
This means you must consider the following points:
1. Power supply
2. Level
3. Isolation
4. Voltage drop
Be careful to ensure that the power supply to the LNBs is continually safeguarded.
Satellite Range:
•
It is important (especially where many subscribers share a single cable) to ensure, that
only top quality sockets are installed.
•
Set up an assembly plan including details of all cable lengths.
•
The loss between the TechniRouter and the receiver (all cables, sockets and / or
splitter) may range from a minimum of 12 dB
to a maximum of 45 dB.
•
TechniRouters have a gain of approximately 20 dB, hence do not operate with
excessive levels on the trunks - for satellite use, we recommend 70 dBµV.
•
Record the existing and required levels at the inputs and outputs of the components,
see technical data and table 1 (cable losses).
•
Note: particularly when installing more complex TechniRouter distributions, even minor
carelessness can accumulate to a large overall error.
•
Avoid overmodulation as well as going below the minimum level of the socket, see
Table 3.
•
A bit error rate (BER, measured before Viterbi-decoder) better then 10
-4
should be
guaranteed in each location.
•
The input signal range of the receiver (control range) is approx. 44 dBµV…84 dBµV.
•
If necessary use low loss cables and/or an amplifier, that the level of the channels at
the top end of the band do not goes below the minimal value. Due to the frequency
response drop of the LNBs and cables in practice a level decline of up to 10 dB at the
last socket may occur at the top end of the band, compared with the lower end of the
band.
•
Estimate the effect of any voltage drops on the feed lines to the TechniRouter. The
voltage supplied to the LNBs and for the accessories must remain at a sufficient level,
for older LNBs ≥ 11.3 V.
•
Planning with consideration in regards to level reserves helps to ensure that the
system can function properly all year around.
