How to Prepare a Measurement

Having created a template – see the chapter How to work with templates –, execute the
command Save setup in the Hardware menu temp-gard or Paqs and Logger.

Example for preparing a measurement with a SRAM-card and the temp-gard instrument:
x Put the SRAM-card into the PCMCIA-slot of your computer
x Choose the command Store setup in the Option temp-gard of the Hardware menu
x Select a template in the pop-up window and confirm your choice with OK
x Confirm the question Reset temp-gard SRAM-card in the dialog box with Yes
x The SRAM-card is prepared an can be inserted into the temp-gard slot

How to Read Measurement Data

If you are using a temp-gard:
x

Put the SRAM-card containing the measurement data into the PCMCIA-slot of your
computer

x

Activate the command Read Data in the menu Hardware temp-gard

Since the name of the template used to prepare this measurement is saved on the SRAM-
card, the software does everything else automatically:

All you have to do is enter a name in the Save as dialog box so that you can reload the
measurement later for analysis or for adding all the information in the setup notebook
that were not available before the measurement.

If you are using a serial datalogger:
x

Connect the logger to the serial interface of your computer.

x

Activate the command Read Data in the menu Hardware Paqs and Loggers

Since serial loggers cannot memorize the name of the template used for preparing the
measurement, you must now select it by hand. Don’t worry, in case of error, this allocation
can be undone any time. The data values are always taken over directly.

Now, all that remains to be done is entering a name in the Save as dialog box, so that
you can reload the measurement later for analysis or for adding all the information in the
setup notebook that were not available before the measurement.
