When both “outer” basic values are drawn in an Arrhenius Representation and linked
with a straight line, the gradient of this straight line is equivalent to the activation energy.

What is important for you:
x The equivalence time is a highly accurate measure indicating if you have

used enough but not
wasted too much
energy.

x For calculating the equivalence time you

either need the activation energy of the material
or at least two basic values (the reference temperature and the holding time)
from your paint supplier.

Law of Equivalence

f

äqui

= exp (-A/R * (1/T

äqui

- 1/T

eff

))

with
A = activation energy
R = general gas constant
f = equivalence factor
T = temperature
