CATCenter Installation Guide
When the maximum number of four slave devices is connected to the master
device, then no targets can be connected directly to the master.
If you wish to connect more than 128 targets then you need to use the second
cascade level. To do so, additional CATCenter units have to be connected.
However, these are not connected to the master device but to the CATCenter
units of the first cascade level. The procedure used to connect these
CATCenter units is exactly the same as described above.

To connect the targets to the slave devices, follow the procedure described in
Chapter 2.1.
All CATCenter products can be combined using the procedures described
above. Thus, you can combine:
•
CATCenterX8 master with CATCenterX4 slave
•
CATCenterX8 master with CATCenterX2 slave
•
CATCenterX4 master with CATCenterX4 slave
•
CATCenterX4 master with CATCenterX2 slave
•
CATCenterX2 master with CATCenterX2 slave
For all of these combinations you always have to keep in mind that, for the
desired number of consoles (e.g. a maximum of 2 consoles for a CATCenterX2
slave), the same corresponding number of CPU ports have to be reserved on
the master (thus 2 CPU ports on the CATCenter master for a CATCenterX2
slave with two consoles).
